Member Spotlight

ArchMasters – Orthotics, Shoes & Footcare, LLC

During this Member Spotlight we enjoyed getting to know Dr. Dave J. Sables, a former podiatric foot surgeon, and his wife Linda, owners of ArchMasters. Their focus is centered on helping individuals with chronic pain, from the feet to the back, through preventative and natural treatments. Get to know more about how they work to solve your problems through non-surgical solutions and natural recommendations for not only adults, but children as well.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up?  How long have you lived in the area?

My wife, Linda L. Sables, a licensed certified pedorthist, and I are both originally from Michigan but have been in Middle TN for nearly 30 years. We opened a business called ArchMasters-Orthotics, Shoes & Footcare, LLC in Brentwood in 2010. We previously had a podiatric medical office and comfort shoe store in Hickory Hollow for almost 23 years. My true passion is bio-mechanics, which applies mechanical principles to the human body in order to understand the mechanical influences on bone and joint health. With the ever increasing bio-mechanical technology available, I needed to forgo surgery and wound care in order to specialize in this area of practice.  More so, I am able to help resolve pain issues faster and even provide surgical prevention.

What is your business and how/why did you start your business?

We provide casual, dress, athletic, orthopedic and comfort shoes and supplies, as well as a large line of pre-made foot orthotics. We also provide custom molded foot orthotics, which are crafted on site.

My wife and I started the business to provide the public with more natural treatment options. Thru our professional services we are not only saving patients money, but also helping them walk away from pain faster and even preventing the need for surgery.

Together we joined forces to provide professional evaluations and treatment for those suffering with pain with our conservative, nonsurgical management of the feet. Due to the rising deductibles and the need for reliable information on care, we decided to open up our business to further help others.

Many people are searching for nonsurgical natural treatments, including searching online. With a plethora of information out there, some good some not, we provide truly professional advice and care. There is no need to rely on a basic shoe store sales person or the internet, we are here to help one with problems from the feet to the back.

Tell us about the events that led up to where your company is now.

Linda, a former owner of A Step Ahead Shoes & Inserts in Hickory Hollow, and I, a former foot surgeon who wanted to become the best in bio-mechanics, decided to open the store. One cannot be the best at surgery, wound care and bio-mechanics these days. There simply is just too much knowledge and information to stay up to date on. For that reason, I decided to forgo the prior and put all my efforts into helping others through nonsurgical bio-mechanical means, something that I am truly passionate about.

With health insurance constantly changing, many are left with large deductibles that they typically will not use. ArchMasters allows them the opportunity to save money by purchasing products from us at reasonable rates rather than high rates dictated by insurance companies or rates doctors have to charge, as mandated by insurance companies.  Products that were previously only available through doctors can now be made available to the public through ArchMasters.

What is unique about your business (what sets you apart from the rest)?

We are unique in that there is always a doctor on site who can be consulted for problems from the foot to the back. No other foot wear store or foot care facility has the knowledge and experience of helping others through bio-mechanics as ArchMasters does. People can walk away from pain fast!

E.g., picture a twelve year old presented with the parents saying he’s crying in pain half way thru every soccer game. Doctors keep telling the parents it’s growing pains and they spend time and money on physical therapy. Physical therapy is great, but his pain was quickly resolved with a pair of custom foot orthotics, because it was his feet flattening, not growing pains.

We spend a lot of time with customers, examining, discussing options and then treating. Many will say I/we have spent more time with them than all the doctors they’ve seen combined.

That’s why our tagline is, ArchMasters – Nashville’s Only Shoe Store with a Doc in every box!

What is one piece of advice you’d give to potential customers?

Best advice I would give? If your pain is slowing you down, we may be able help.

We have found our niche to be helping those from 4 years old to 98 years old where pain or poor coordination is slowing them down from being as active as they want or need to be. There is no one solution for a problem that can be rendered best for everyone. The orthotic and shoe combination is unique to each foot and to each individual. Everyone is different in their own way and identifying the individual need is imperative for success.
