SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:April 29\, May 20\, and June 24\, 2023\n9:30am – Noon\n$45 per workshop or $120 for all 3 (each workshop can be taken independently) \nThis morning workshop offers an opportunity for those who love nature\, writing\, and creativity to come together and pursue all three in a small group setting (10 person maximum). Facilitated in the Amherst Writers & Artists method\, this workshop is designed to nurture the inherent creative abilities of every participant. Are you curious about writing in nature or about nature? Do you regularly journal or keep a blog? Do you write professionally? Has it been years since picking up a pen? Do you want to create a writing practice for yourself? \nWith nature as our inspiration and subject\, we’ll write to at least three prompts with an opportunity to share with the group. This is not a critique workshop. When words are brand new on the page\, we do not edit or perfect. We respond with what resonated in a strong way and what we remember. We’ll discuss the AWA philosophy and practices at the beginning of each workshop\, and encourage participants to learn more here: Philosophy and Practices ⋆ Amherst Writers & Artists \nWhat to bring:\nNotebook and pen\, journal and colored pencils\, laptop — your choice!\nOptional: A sack lunch to enjoy following the workshop\, as well as comfortable shoes\, sunscreen\, and insect repellent to explore the trails at Owl’s Hill. \nPlease plan to arrive by 9:15am to park\, get settled in our space\, and prepare to begin the workshop on time.

We will examine the bonds that help them—and each one of us—make it through difficult times to find hope and experience growth. \nThis year promises to be extra special with gifted artist\, activist and music therapist Kyshona as the keynote speaker and performer. With a powerful presence\, insight as a music therapist\, and personal experience working with the women of Healing Housing\, Kyshona promises to educate and inspire.\nA special documentary will premiere at Hand in Hand\, following women as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of life after Healing Housing. \nDetails: Event is free. SUMMARY:WCPR’s Rising Stars present Disney’s and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR.
DESCRIPTION:The Rising Stars winter production for 2022-2023 will be Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR\, based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2\,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations. The jack-of-all trades\, Bert\, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.” \nFour Performances will be March 24-26 at the College Grove Artsitorium in College Grove\, Tennessee. Performances will be 7pm on Friday\, 2pm and 7pm on Saturday\, and 2pm on Sunday. \nNote: The 2pm performance on Saturday\, March 25th will be a sensory/family friendly performance. This performance will include:\n• Lower sound level\n• Reduction of loud\, startling or jarring sounds\n• House lights on at a low level in the theatre during the performance\n• A reduction of stage lighting and special effects lighting on stage and on the audience\n• Patrons are free to talk and move around during the performance\n• Please feel free to bring comforting objects\, such as fidget toys and weighted stuffed animals or lap blankets\, as well as noise-reducing headphones.\n• This is a great opportunity for those with sensitivity to sensory input and young children to attend the show in a more comfortable setting.
