DESCRIPTION:This month’s FrankTalks lecture will feature author Jay Sheridan and photographer Robin Hood\, who will discuss their upcoming book\, Historic Franklin: Along the Harpeth. \nJay Sheridan\, author\, has covered interesting people and places in numerous magazines and books\, including works with Grandin Hood on Historic Franklin\, Tennessee\, West Virginia’s famous Greenbrier Resort\, Florida’s venerable Don CeSar Hotel on St. Pete Beach\, and the life and career of Mike Curb and Curb Records. As founder of Sheridan Public Relations in downtown Franklin\, he focuses his work on hospitality\, tourism and front-page issues\, and currently serves as board president for the non-profit Friends of Franklin Parks.\nRobin Hood was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for photography while a newspaper photojournalist in Chattanooga\, Tennessee. He studied painting at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga\, which presented him the Distinguished Alumnus Award during its Centennial Celebration. Hood served as an Army lieutenant in Vietnam. Geocaches are hidden in containers that can be found using a GPS or smartphone. Head out on our kid-friendly course set up with caches ready to be found. (We’ll also have a couple more challenging caches for anyone looking for extra adventure.) Hike around in the woods and see what you can find. No experience necessary! \nBring your own GPS device or use your smartphone with Google Maps installed to find the caches. Participants are welcome to bring tradeables (small toys or trinkets) to leave or exchange in caches. \nCheck in between 9 am and 12 pm. Trails are open for geocaching until 3 pm. The gate closes promptly at 3 pm.

We are a pack-in/pack-out facility.\nJoin us as we explore Owl’s Hill at sunset and enjoy the sights and sounds of day turning to night. We’ll listen for owls\, coyotes\, and night-singing insects. As the stars come out\, we’ll look for constellations\, planets\, and even meteors. \nMeet our non-releasable owl ambassadors and learn about the adaptations that help nocturnal animals survive. Find out what we can expect to see in the sky that night. After that\, we’ll head out on the trail to look and listen for the wonders of the night. No flashlights\, please! \nOwl Prowl programs include an easy one-mile hike with some gentle uphill and downhill hiking. Our trails are natural surface\, and hikers can expect a few spots with uneven terrain. Wear shoes suitable for hiking. Insect repellent is strongly recommended.

Also during the presentation\, there will be contests and prizes for those participating\, including the chance to win two\, two-day general admission passes to Pilgrimage Music Festival\, Sept. 23-24\, at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm. Arrington\, TN\, 37014 \nTravel back to 16th Century England where the Village of Covington Glen comes alive with the bustle of a Renaissance Marketplace. Artisans from all over the country display their wares from silks to swords; to jewels and unique forms of art. A variety of flavors\, aromas and tastes greet festival-goers as the voices of renaissance musicians and merrymakers echo through the trees. Enjoy the revelry and pageantry of the joust\, along with tea and a special visit with Her Majesty\, the Queen. This year’s event also features a variety of additions including new entertainers and merchants; a new special event\, Fairy Training\, for ages 5-10; and a new form of admission\, our exclusive Ambassador Pass. \nFestival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in May (6\, 7\, 13\, 14\, 20\, 21\, 27\, and 28) and on Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 29th. Daily General Admission Tickets start at $25 per adult; $10 for children ages 6-12; and children ages 5 and younger are admitted for free. Ambassador and Festival Passes\, good for admission on all nine days of the event\, range from $100-$135; and parking is free. DESCRIPTION:April 29\, May 20\, and June 24\, 2023\n9:30am – Noon\n$45 per workshop or $120 for all 3 (each workshop can be taken independently) \nThis morning workshop offers an opportunity for those who love nature\, writing\, and creativity to come together and pursue all three in a small group setting (10 person maximum). Facilitated in the Amherst Writers & Artists method\, this workshop is designed to nurture the inherent creative abilities of every participant. Are you curious about writing in nature or about nature? Do you regularly journal or keep a blog? Do you write professionally? Has it been years since picking up a pen? Do you want to create a writing practice for yourself? \nWith nature as our inspiration and subject\, we’ll write to at least three prompts with an opportunity to share with the group. This is not a critique workshop. When words are brand new on the page\, we do not edit or perfect. We respond with what resonated in a strong way and what we remember.
