The Refuge Center for Counseling Moves into New Facility to Expand Services

Franklin, TN – The Refuge Center for Counseling is excited to move into its brand-new home and begin offering services on Monday, October 28. This 15,200 square-foot lodge-like facility and accompanying 7-acres of land has been in the works for almost a decade and is designed to expand and enhance its ability to provide counseling to over 4,000 clients a year consisting of: kids, teens, adults, couples, and families. This move marks a major milestone in The Refuge Center’s mission to offer excellent, accessible, and affordable mental and emotional healthcare services in support of a transformational impact on communities.

The Refuge Center’s new building, located off of Long Lane in Franklin, TN, will serve a larger portion of the community through 42,000 counseling sessions each year. The new campus embodies The Refuge Center’s “culture of compassionate care” and features dedicated spaces like a child and teen wing, a spacious multi-purpose room for seminars and group activities, and many outdoor features such as a prayer chapel, serene walking trails, healing gardens, a labyrinth, a playground, an enclosed pavilion to host groups, and an expansive patio design offering therapeutic elements. Every element of the building was thoughtfully designed to support holistic healing and foster a sense of peace, safety, and dignity for all clients. Upon move in, a therapeutic modality new to Refuge will also begin: Movement and Somatic Therapy. This will include trauma-focused yoga, mindfulness and meditation, somatic stretching, breathwork, grounding techniques, dance & movement. They will also be utilizing this modality in both groups and intensives hosted at Refuge.

In total, 364 donors consisting of private donors, foundation grants, local churches, and corporations came together to provide the funds needed for this $13.5M facility. So far, $9.5M has been raised and The Refuge Center hopes to raise the remainder by Summer of 2026.

Nancy Osman, CEO of Solomon Builders, the General Contractor on the project says: “We are so excited about The Refuge Center having a permanent home. Partnering with Amy and The Refuge Board, Bauer Askew Architecture, Gamble Design Collaborative and all our sub-contractors has truly been a joy! We caught and bought in to the vision Amy cast to provide a place where people can heal and ran with it! Solomon Builders has been blessed to work on this project, and our team that has been on the site every day has been blessed. Building The Refuge Center will be a job we always remember for the camaraderie and sense of purpose that what we are doing has a Kingdom purpose.”

“We are thrilled to be moving into our new home and reach more people in need of hope and healing,” said Amy Alexander, CEO/Co-Founder of The Refuge Center for Counseling.
“This facility will embody our core values of care and connection, and we are grateful to our community, donors, clients, and everyone else who made this vision a reality.”
