Young Leaders Council presents guest speaker Christine Karbowiak, cheif administrative officer, cheif risk officer and executive vice president of Bridgestone Americas, at the Fall Leadership Luncheon on Friday, October 21, from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m., at the Omni Nashville Hotel, located at 250 5th Avenue South. There is a $50 charge per person for the luncheon and program or $600 for a table of ten sponsorship. Reservations are required online at www.youngleaderscouncil.org/events. Since 2013, Williamson, Inc. Young Professionals and YLC have partnered to train Williamson Chamber members in nonprofit board leadership, with the next class beginning October 4, followed by weekly sessions every Thursday through December 15.

With nearly 25 years of service with Bridgestone Americas, Karbowiak oversees all of the company’s risk and reputation management departments, including communications, environmental, corporate security, safety, industrial hygiene, and internal audit, as well as government relations. She is active in a number of community organizations and volunteer efforts, serving on the Advisory Board of the Jennings Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University; Audit Committee of Tennessee State Museum; Immediate Past Chair of Japan America Society of Tennessee; Vital Signs Task Force Char of Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; and Executive Committee member of Tennessee Performing Arts Center. She has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Nashville Chapter of the YMCA and the Nashville Sports Council, honoree of Nashville Business Journal Woman of Influence and YWCA Academy of Women of Achievement, and Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Illinois, College of Law.

Now in its 21st year, the Young Leaders Council annual fall event provides an opportunity to gather young business professionals, as well as nonprofit and corporate individuals, to network and to hear about important issues affecting the nonprofit community. Contributing to this year’s event are Crosslin & Associates, PLLC and Genesco Inc. as gold sponsors and The Jack C. Massey College of Business at Belmont as speaker sponsor.

Since 1985, Young Leaders Council has been the premier organization for training nonprofit board members in the Nashvile area and was created to address the need to broaden and strengthen Nashville’s volunteer leadership base by training diverse and committed individuals to effectively participate on the boards of nonprofit organizations. More than 2,500 men and women have graduated from the program in the past 31 years serving on the boards of 250 nonprofit organizations in the middle Tennessee area. Approximately 125 graduates entering the nonprofit community each year from four YLC classes, including two in Davidson County and two paternship with the Junior League of Nashville and Williamson Chamber.
