Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area?
I grew up in Springfield, TN and have lived in Franklin for over 20 years now.
What is Southern Springs Capital Group and why did you choose to start this organization?
We are a wealth management and investment company. My business partner and I had been with a major national brokerage firm for several years, and we wanted to be able to provide a high lever of personal service that most firms used to provide before they were all bought out by big banks.
Tell us about the events that led up to where your organization is now.
We wanted to be in a place that was easily accessible to both previous and new clients. Our space in Meridian is easily accessible and near restaurants, shopping and hotels.
What is unique about Southern Springs Capital Group (what sets you apart from the rest)?
We serve as portfolio managers and most of our relationships are discretionary, meaning our clients have entrusted us to manage investments on their behalf. Our philosophy is to concentrate on sectors we find to have good momentum and strong earnings growth. We prefer to select equities that are both technically and fundamentally attractive, and we do our best to make tax-efficient transactions. We invest our own money in the same way.
Why did you choose Williamson County to open your business?
Even though our area has seen tremendous growth, we think there is still more growth ahead of us. It’s also a great place to work and raise a family. We are located close to many successful and thriving businesses, and even our clients that don’t live here usually like to come here to visit with us.
In your own words, why is it great to do business in Williamson County, TN? How has being a part of the overall business community in Williamson County helped you?
It’s a great pro-business climate, and all of the business leaders that we’ve had a chance to interact with have been wonderful. It’s a very diverse mix of businesses including music, healthcare, technology, many different types of businesses are thriving here.
Why did you choose to be a Williamson, Inc. Member?
We wanted the chance to interact with other members of the business community, and to be aware of new businesses coming to Williamson County.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice (general or specific) can you offer to readers?
Keep a long-term focus. While sometimes the news may be giving mixed signals, most people’s investment horizons are long enough to be successful with proper planning.
How can readers take advantage of your products and services? What is the best way to reach you?
Most people will set up an initial consultation either at our office, or at a place convenient for them such as their home or office. We do not charge for an initial consultation, so even if someone just wants to get a second opinion, we can help them with that.
