BLOOD DRIVE TO HONOR LOCAL DETECTIVE’S WIFE BATTLING LEUKEMIA

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2021) – Blood Assurance will be hosting a mobile blood drive Thursday, Oct. 7 in honor of a Williamson County woman who recently learned she has leukemia.

Allison Barnes, 41, was diagnosed with the disease late last month and is currently hospitalized. The mother of two is married to Detective Darren Barnes with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Like many suffering from the blood cancer, Allison has required both red blood cell and platelet transfusions. Allison’s loved ones decided a blood drive would be an ideal way to help.

“I’m blown away by the generosity of our friends and family who took the time to organize this blood drive with Blood Assurance,” Allison said. “These donations will help me and so many others fighting debilitating diseases like leukemia.”

The blood drive will take place from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. at Music City All Stars, 215 Gothic Ct. #102 in Franklin.

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at bloodassurance.org/allison1007, or by calling 800-962-0628, or texting BAGIVE to 999777. Walk-ins will be accepted. Individuals who donate will receive a complimentary coffee mug from Blood Assurance.

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids — avoiding caffeine — and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
