Franklin-based auto technology company AeroWall Dynamics announced today it is renovating a 15,000-square-foot office and lab space in Cool Springs in a move that will create 36 jobs.

The company, which produces an attachment that is placed between the cab and trailer of tractor-trailers, is investing $508,000 in the effort, according to a release. AeroWall has about a half-dozen employees.

The state expects to provide some incentives that have yet to be finalized.

Founded in 2014, AeroWall previously operated from Murfreesboro and is now located in the aforementioned Cool Springs building with an address of 416 Mary Lindsay Polk Drive. With the expansion, the company plans to sell its product to trucking companies nationwide. It has “made inroads with FedEx and other logistics and trucking companies,” the release notes.

Using GPS-enabled speed tracking and sensors, the AeroWall product “improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions for trucks that spend the majority of their time traveling at highway speeds.”

“We’re excited to announce plans to expand our workforce in Williamson County,” AeroWall Dynamics CEO Gary Ferguson said in the release. “AeroWall Dynamics has designed a first-to-market solution to improve the fuel efficiency, safety and emissions for tractor-trailers. Our new office should provide a base for AeroWall Dynamics to expand our product to customers across the country.”

Ferguson (pictured) credited Launch Tennessee and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for their support.

“It is always exciting when Tennesseans use their know-how and unveil the latest technologies to solve problems,” Randy Boyd, TDECD commissioner, said in the release. “AeroWall Dynamics is doing that for one of Tennessee’s largest industries. More than 263,400 Tennesseans work in the transportation, logistics and distribution sector, with 12 percent job growth expected over the next decade.”
