BLOOD ASSURANCE PARTNERS WITH THE SCOTT HAMILTON CARES FOUNDATION THIS AUGUST
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (August 1, 2025) – Blood Assurance and the Williamson County-based Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation are teaming up again this year to save the lives of cancer patients.
From August 1-31, Blood Assurance will donate $5 to the foundation for every individual who gives blood at the organization’s donation centers in Nashville, Bellevue, Clarksville, Cool Springs, Columbia, and Hermitage.
“Cancer has touched so many of our lives, whether it’s a friend, a family member, or even one of our own team members,” said Garry Allison, Senior Vice President of Operations at Blood Assurance. “That’s why this partnership with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation means so much to us. It gives donors the opportunity to make a difference on two levels: by supporting vital cancer research and by helping ensure patients currently fighting for their lives have the blood products they need. It’s a powerful way to give hope.”
Established in 2014, the Scott Hamilton CARES (Cancer Alliance for Research Education and Survivorship) Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. Hamilton, a retired Olympic gold medalist figure skater, has faced his own challenges off the ice, after being diagnosed with testicular cancer and three brain tumors.
“Partnering with Blood Assurance just feels right,” said Scott Hamilton. “As someone who’s been through cancer, I know how critical both research and blood donations are to survival. This collaboration brings those two worlds together. It’s personal for me, and I’m so grateful to everyone who donates. You are helping patients right now and also pushing us closer to a future without cancer.”
As a token of our appreciation, all donors in the month of August will receive a $20 e-gift card to their email on file. O-negative and AB-plasma donors will receive a $25 e-gift card instead.
Donors can visit www.bloodassurance.org/scottcares, call 800-962-0628, or text BAGIVE to 999777, to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also accepted.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids — avoiding caffeine — and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
