Williamson, Inc. Economic Development Announces Leadership Transition

Elizabeth McCreary Steps Down; Nathan Zipper Transitions to Chief Economic Development Officer

After a decade of dedicated service, Elizabeth McCreary will step down from her role as Chief Economic Development Officer at Williamson, Inc.’s Economic Development Office. McCreary has been at the helm of the Economic Development Office since its inception.

“I’m deeply grateful for the privilege of serving Williamson County over the past decade. While I eagerly anticipate the adventures of my next chapter, I’ll carry cherished memories of the remarkable Williamson Inc team with me,” said McCreary. “Their dedication and excellence have been the cornerstone of our success. I’m eager to watch what remarkable accomplishments lie ahead for this team and the community.”

Prior to assuming the role of Chief Economic Development Officer, McCreary spent a year building the Williamson, Inc. Economic Partnership, helping to develop a five-year strategic plan for Economic Development and raising the funds to help support that plan through a new public private partnership.

During her tenure, McCreary has garnered a reputation for her exceptional leadership on impactful relocation projects, such as Schneider Electric, Dave Ramsey and Mitsubishi. She has also successfully built a team of dedicated economic developers and established a network of over 100 Economic Partners, among many other significant achievements.

“Elizabeth has been an invaluable member of our community over the last decade,” said Matt Largen, Williamson, Inc. President and CEO. “Her leadership at a critical moment in our organization’s history has provided Williamson, Inc. with necessary resources to attract and retain companies that provide good paying jobs for our friends, families, and neighbors. Williamson County’s economy is strong because of Elizabeth McCreary.”

Among that team is her successor, Nathan Zipper. Zipper will be transitioning from his role as Vice President of Business Development and Investor Relations to Chief Economic Development Officer effective January 1, 2024. During his almost five-year tenure at Williamson, Inc., Zipper has overseen numerous successful relocation and expansion projects in Williamson County including Kaiser Aluminum, In-N-Out Burger, and Educational Media Foundation (K-Love). Zipper was also recognized as one of the 2023 Top 50 Economic Developers in North America by Consultant Connect.

“Elizabeth’s impact on Williamson County cannot be overstated,” said Zipper. “I am grateful for her leadership, and I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to build upon her legacy of diligently working to enhance every aspect of our community.”

Williamson, Inc. invites the community to join them in honoring McCreary’s service to the community at their Annual Celebration on November 28th at The Factory in Franklin. Event details and registration can be found at williamsonchamber.com.
